Could they hide her until her injuries healed, and looked less terrible? Who would come looking for her? And what would they do when she was found? Would they take out their anger on the whole town? Who would look after her in the meantime? Doc Fisk and a rowdy woman named Boots would. That's who.

From the Inside Flap
Lubrican:  An word found in Middle English or Middle Irish texts, generally understood to mean an invisible sprite who excites the lusts of the unwary.  This sprite eventually came to be known as "Leprechaun" and its description changed with the spelling.  While leprechauns may grant you wishes or pots of gold, if you catch them, the only remaining Lubrican still offers you treats that may inflame your libido.

About the Author
Robert Lubrican is a Baby Boomer.  There.  Now you know.  And several publishing houses, when they previewed some of his work for publication, said "You're too old fashioned.  You're an old fashioned storyteller, and that's not what young people want these days.  They don't want to be told a story. They want the story to unfold before their very eyes.  There should be nothing in the text of your books that isn't revealed by one of a character's five senses."

So they turned him down cold.  And since then, he's sold tens of thousands of books.  On July 6th, 2013, he became one of Amazon's top 100 best selling authors of erotic romance, and has only been off that list for one day since then.  And that includes romance in the settings other than the modern day.  There are westerns, historical period pieces, comedies, satire, fairy tales, holiday themes, mysteries, action adventure stories and even a little bit of science fiction.

If you don't want the publishing houses to decide what you do and don't like ... if you don't mind being around somebody who's got the gift of gab, and can keep you spellbound for hours ... if you don't mind somebody who can create the scene in your mind, instead of depending on a character to paint you a picture, then maybe it's time you read something by an old fashioned author.

Pull up a log beside the campfire, or curl up in that chair by the fire, or maybe lay back in a hammock in the breeze, and get ready for a good story.

And, by the way, there is enough trouble and heartbreak in real life.  This author likes a happy ending, and that means relationships that are built on love and respect.  Some of his themes may be controversial, in a taboo sort of way, but the only people who get abused in a Lubrican novel are the bad guys.

Old West Erotica
By R
When I started reading this story I almost stopped immediately. The story starts out talking about an outhouse in a western town and a very prim and proper young lady relieving herself. Not exactly what most people want to read about. If you stick with it for a few more pages though, you will read a funny, sexy, heart-warming story of romance in the old west. There is plenty of good hot sex in this novel and Lubrican is a genius at writing about sex in a way that will stir your loins. In fact, I read this story to my wife and I even took on each character's role and gave each one a unique voice as I conveyed his unique style of writing. The problem was, the story was so sexy that my wife kept having me stop reading to "take care of other things". I loved the character "Boots". Once you read about her you may find that, like me, you have known someone like her. She was a trip!

Lubrican writes about things that, in all probability, could never actually happen, but he touches your mind, body, and soul, and you find yourself believing his stories. This story includes some very hot sex scenes, but it also has some very tender, loving moments. As I read to my wife, and we neared the end of the story, I found her clapping her hands and cheering for the lovers and the unique ending of this tale. Do miss this one; it's a winner!

Great story, great author
By Esmeralda Green
This is the first review I write of a Robert Lubrican's work, but call it just lazyness. He writes really good porn and erotic stories, there's a difference and it's very notorious when you start reading a book what is on his mind.
The sex is hot not because of the precise descrption of every movement if each body, but for the atmosphere created, I think, what really makes you horny is what drove the characters to make what it is described.
That is in general (I think i've read almost everything from this author).
There are some recurrent themes, and peronal fetiches (all his main male characters are named "Bob"), but what I like most, is his western stories, like this. They are hot, really hot, but they also have some sweetness and candor that aren't shocking, just well described and with a heart.
The human nature is acknowledged, respected, steamily described that I truly believe that, in 5 or 6 years, I'll recommend my daughter to read this stories If she wants to read some worthly erotic work.
Only recommendation? Work more on the covers, this really has nothing to do with the content...

This is actually a very good book with a lot of history tied in. This book goes back from the 1300's to current times and is not just about murders as you would think from the picture of Charles Manson on the front. It contains robberies, forgers, pirates and all sorts of other crimes as well.

Lighting the Shadow, by Rachel Eliza Griffiths

Lighting the Shadow is about a woman’s evolving journey through desire, grief, trauma, and the peculiar historical American psyche of desire and violence. These poems explore the international and psychological wars women survive—wars inflicted through various mediums that employ art, race, and literature. Furthermore, the collection is about a woman’s transformation and acceptance of her complicated attempts to balance her spirit’s own spectrum. Pulling the poet away from death, these poems insist that she open her life to her own powers and the powers of a greater world—a world that is both bright and dark.

Elite Perceptions of Poverty and Inequality (International Studies in Poverty Research), by Elisa P. Reis, Mick Moore

The researchers who have written this volume are clear not only that mass poverty is still the leading humanitarian crisis in developing countries, but that, if effective policies are to be put in place, the national elites who control governments and economies need to be convinced of both the reasons why reducing poverty is in their own and the national interest, and that public action can make a difference. Remarkably, in the rapidly growing literature on poverty, this volume is the first to use survey techniques to explore Third World elites' attitudes to poverty.

Five cases - intended to be broadly representative of the diversity of situations in developing countries - were chosen: Brazil, South Africa, the Philippines, Bangladesh and Haiti. While the authors found major differences in how national elites understand and represent poverty, the classic threats that induced elites in late 19th Century Europe to be concerned with reducing poverty - the fear of crime, epidemics, military weakness or political unrest - do not feature prominently in the consciousness of most Third World elites. Nor do most of them believe that there is a viable solution to poverty through public action.

The findings in this book throw light on one reason for the relative ineffectiveness of poverty reduction strategies hitherto, and the huge importance of presenting the problem of poverty in ways that fit more closely with the ways in which national elites understand their world.

The door of open and close
By Walter W. Ko
This is a scholar work to look at the domestic and foreign policies on China. It showed how the West Coast mainly California anti-Chinese sentiment fired up to Congress to pass the Chinese Exclusion Act 1882. But Secretary Hay made a declaration of 1899 China Open Door Policy for equal opportunity for all foreign powers in China. This book compared and contrasted American policy in US and China.

It showed how the Chinese and American played politics on economic terms. The San Francisco Chinese allied Chinese in China and around the world to stage a boycott. The unpleasant treatment to H. H. Kung, the future China's finance minister and Dr Sun Yat-sen was mentioned in the text. On pages 70 - 71, it also related a group of students from China to study at Oberlin College. They were delayed a year waiting for the certificates. a student remarked "that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a Chinaman to enter the United States".

This book also showed business, labor, religious and racist groups joined in the pro and con legislative influence.

Reading this book helps understand the past and current relationship between China and US, especially in terms of politics and economics.
